Duba Plains Private Reserve is in the heart of the Okavango Delta, in one of Botswana’s most wildlife-rich regions. A mix of open floodplains, palm islands and permanent waterways creates a diverse habitat that attracts a variety of animals throughout the year.

Safari drives, night drives and boat safaris provide different perspectives of the Delta, while guided walks offer a more immersive way to explore. The reserve is well known for its large herds of buffalo and the predators that follow them, including lions, leopards and hyenas. Other regularly seen wildlife include elephant, giraffe, hippo, lechwe, tsessebe and wildebeest. Birding is excellent, with around 200 species recorded.

Known for its predator encounters and abundant wildlife, this private reserve is one of the Okavango Delta’s most rewarding safari experiences.

Duba Plains Camp is in the heart of the Okavango Delta on a private concession. The camp is built on a raised deck with views of the surrounding floodplain, palm dotted islands and woodland, much of which has been the location for international award-winning wildlife films. It’s a spectacular setting.

There are five 1-bedroom suites, and one 2-bedroom suite. Each suite has an indoor lounge area, en-suite facilities with double vanities, indoor and outdoor showers, and a luxurious bath. There are ceiling fans and an environmently friendly air-conditioning system over the bed to maintain temperature. Outdoor areas include a private veranda, plunge pool and shaded sala.

The main guest area has a raised dining room, comfortable lounge with private dining areas, wine cellar, library and outdoor fire pits for sun-downers. The set up is relaxed, congenial and welcoming.

Duba Plains is a wildlife connoisseur’s getaway, where open-vehicle safari drives, guided bush walks and boating when the water levels permit are on offer, that provide guests an opportunity for an exceptional safari experience in an area that is known for dramatic predator-prey interactions, especially lion and buffalo encounters.

The days at Duba Plains start with an early morning safari drive, when predators and other wildlife are at their most active, and sightings are at their best before the heat of the day. Breakfast will either be back in the camp, or a brunch while out on the safari drive.

Afternoons are for relaxing by your private plunge pool, or choosing from a range of seasonal activities. Depending on the time of the year, these may be traditional mokoro canoe or motorboat safaris through the Delta's waterways, guided walking safaris, or making use of the complimentary professional camera equipment in camp.

Later, head out on an evening game drive in search of nocturnal wildlife before returning for sundowners, dinner and stories around the fire, ending another day in the Okavango Delta.

The Linyanti, in northern Botswana, is one of the most remote and exclusive safari areas in Botswana. The habitat is a mix of grassland, swamps and bush which are fed by the waters of the Kwando and Linyanti Rivers. Wild-dog, predator and massive herds of elephant add to the mix of an untamed safari.

Human numbers are low. There are very few camps or lodges in Linyanti, each with its own different habitat and landscape, and each on a private concession where flexibilty plays a part in creating an off-the-beaten track safari experience.

DumaTau Camp is situated on the banks of the Linyanti River’s Osprey Lagoon, located close to the source of the Savute Channel in the western part of the Linyanti, offering an exclusive combination of land and river experiences.

Accommodation is provided in dreamy luxury en-suite tents, raised off the ground with views across the Lagoon, beautifully designed and decorated in shades of soft salmon, biscuit and warm wood. Central areas include an inviting deck with expansive dining and lounge areas, also overlooking the Lagoon, with top-notch service and a menu that delights (no AI on this, personally experienced).

Activities include day and night game drives, and, subject to weather and water level conditions, also nature walks and boating on the Linyanti River. The wildlife here is diverse. Elephant along waterways, big predators prowling and excellent birding and photo opportunities are part of the experience.

In summary, Duma Tau offers an ultra luxury safari experience in the Linyanti region.

The day starts with a safari drive through the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, home to large elephant herds, predators and excellent birdlife.

A leisurely lunch is followed by time to relax at the camp, exploring the artefacts and informative displays of the region or unwinding at the pool overlooking the lagoon.

The late afternoon game drive offers a chance to search for nocturnal wildlife before returning for dinner and a relaxed evening around the campfire, ending another day exploring the waterways, lagoons and varied habitats that make the Linyanti such a rewarding safari destination.
